The WKF (World Karate Federation) has approved our Genseiryu Tanren kata - Sansai - as an official kata (Shitei Kata) effective 1st January 2018.
The highest status kata in Genseiryu, Sansai, can thus be performed in any official tournament both national and international such as European and World Championships etc.
This anouncement by WKF is a big step forward for the people learning Genseiryu.
At Okinawa Karate Kaikan (http://karatekaikan.jp/en/) in Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate, the name of Sensei Seiken Shukumine is revered as one of the masters who contributed to Karate.
I am so happy and honored to officially share the release of this news by the WKF with all our Genseiryu family in the world. I am so proud of Gensiryu.
These days, belonging to the same style though divided into several groups, I believe that we need to walk towards the future and the next generation together.
I hope this great news will present a chance to create new interest towards Genseiryu and the performance of Sansai not only in daily training but also in tournaments.
I have to say that in order to reach this dicision by the WKF, Mauro Sagginelli Shihan from Australia made a significant contribution during a period of several years.
For his contribution - on behalf of Genseiryu Karate-do International - I hereby express my most sincere gratitude.
President of Genseiryu Karate Do International
